The same applies to Assange

Assange should spend many years in prison.
I would not want to live in a country without whistleblower(s).
@FearlessFly spy
@barjoe . . . again, your OPINION, no evidence.
Do you think Daniel Ellsberg was a spy ?
@FearlessFly I think Ellsberg was a whistleblower. Assange assisted a low level Pvt Bradley Manning to break passwords and hack into military database and steal classified information. He leaked it for his own purposes. Manning was coerced in my opinion and he/she went to prison until Obama pardoned her. I don't think Julian Assange is the hero has made out to be. He is an international criminal. I am more sympathetic to Edward Snowden than to Assange. He became aware of something the courts have determined was illegal. He is a whistleblower.
@barjoe "Assange assisted" -- would you lock-up journalists for disclosing wrongdoing ?
"He is an international criminal" -- no trial, no convictions.
@FearlessFly No trial, no conviction. That is true. He was a fugitive for a reason. Most of the world on the internet supports him and views him as a hero. I have a different take on it. He's not a hero to me.
@barjoe "He was a fugitive for a reason"
IMO, there is a reason why a 'open/free' press (whistleblowers) are widely considered valuable. (even to those who think they may not be "heroes" ).
@FearlessFly I support a free press. I think Julian Assange more of an espionage agent than a journalist or a whistleblower. Ellsberg and Snowden are whistleblowers.
