Is anyone here a foodie? By foodie I mean eating unprocessed foods that are local and organic, as much as possible. It's not about veganism or vegetarianism.
Yes. So much cancer and heart disease caused by processed foods. I'm also an anti Monsanto activist. Grow your own food.
I am.
Not nesessarily organic, but I do try to use as few processed foods as is practical and prefer to cook from scratch.
i am slowly transitioning more 2 that lifestyle. but honestly, as a person on a fixed income, it can be difficult. i have started 2 grow some of my own food, but because i live in an apartment, i can't grow some of my favorites, like squashes and berries(well i still grow berries but i never get any because the kids love them, but im sorta ok with that, i just wish they would leave me a handful or so) were only allowed 2 plant in pots, and we can't grow stuff that spreads out, i recently found out that the local farmers markets have programs for low income families and i plan on looking in2 that. i used 2 have chickens for eggs, but when i moved back in2 an apartment i couldnt keep them. i would like 2 look in2 local meat farms. i know that the farmers in my area show their animals some respect, and they have a pleasant life before slaughter. i am not against eating meat, but i would like 2 know that what i am eating wasnt just locked in some dark building its whole life. ive been trying 2 convince my mom 2 try local honey for her immune system, but again, its just 2 expensive 2 be reasonable. any tips or advice would not go unappreciated tho
My farmers market has a clearance table where I often pick up tons of stuff that still has plenty of life and it’s dirt cheap for stir fry's and soups. I shop for what looks good and is priced right and decide what I’ll cook after, rarley the other way around.
Absolutely, I live at the farmers market and I cook most every day. I happen to be vegan and while that’s not the point of the post it is what got me eating healthy fresh organic produce and learning awsome ways to cook it.
Garden veggies should I grow this year-cukes, sugar snap peas, string beans, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries and tomatoes of all kinds.
Oh, I so hope you are right. Right now, the rain is coming down very hard and seeds would float away. Glad I hurt my big toe and had to stay in.
Yes. I eat local, organic food, even here in Thailand.
