In 1989, the minimum wage was around $3.20/hour...and it needed to be more around $6/hour to $7/hour...even in those days!!

Except they aren't philanthropists, they are more like unwilling slaves..

I remember working for $1.65/hr my first summer job 1972. When I went to Temple U I had a part time job making $5/hr. 45 years later and minimum is $7.25? That is a lot less than $1.65 was 50 years ago. Slavery still exists in America.
