A good friend has recently introduced me to the "Marginal Mennonite Society". They seem to have great values, with an interesting "religion because we don't believe in religion" mantra. I am puzzled that (most of them) maintain a belief in god, Anyone else familiar with them? Here are a few goodies from their fb page:
"That self-hatred should generate in us an eagerness to unite with others seems to suggest that it is primarily against ourselves that we league ourselves with others." - Eric Hoffer, Author of The True Believer
"The fanatic is perpetually incomplete and insecure. He cannot generate self-assurance out of his individual resources - out of his rejected self - but finds it only by clinging passionately to whatever support he happens to embrace. This passionate attachment is the essence of his blind devotion and religiosity, and he sees in it the source of all virtue and strength - He easily sees himself as the supporter and defender of the holy cause to which he clings. And he is ready to sacrifice his life." - Eric Hoffer
Hoffer was the 1st mega champion Jeapordy Show winner undefeated and set the 1st big money winnings record
Holier than thou geebush luvs me crowd
Actually, not.
@tinkercreek I love Quakers and Catholic Workers for their WORK despite their clingings to fundamental religious LIES ....If these new MENONITES are helping the rural poor like my beloved believers in cities I WOULD HAVE HEARD they are worthy of praise....there is no such thing as an innocent xian.... burning us in hell or bribing us with an alleged heaven is despicable....do these Menonites publish their own bible purged of all violence misogyny irrationality and fictions against science????
tinkercreek: there's a similar post in Recovery from Mormonism; Do You post there?
No, not I.
Family Circus!
That crosses the line of good taste and decorum.
I can have a "don't believe in religion" moment without the "Marginal Mennonite Society."
Never heard of them, but I like their way of thinking.
Not familiar with their beliefs; they apparently have a sense of humor.
