COVID UPDATES in my area of Missouri. I find some of this very strange. I went to a funeral yesterday in a county that has a mask mandate. My county does not have one so far.
In the funeral home everyone has a mask and does social distancing. Well, almost. People are crying and hugging and one person reportedly has COVID. People hug her too, and she is the mother of my 2 daughters. Too close for comfort in my opinion. What can I say? If you are in a grocery store the masked person close to you might have the virus too and you would never know.
Babies present in this funeral are not covered in any way. It would seem to me that a blanket could be used safely to protect the babies. This flies over the heads of the others, or maybe they just have not thought of it.
The preacher and singers took off their mask to pray and sing. What is that all about?
When it is over I go to a corporate auto store like the one I work for and want them to use the diagnostic tool because my check engine light is on. We are all wearing masks by mandate and I am informed that they cannot touch or enter my car because of COVID. What happens instead is that they give me the diagnostic tool and let me do it. The tool is simply returned to them and nobody wipes it or cleans it.
As I am leaving that county I notice a man driving his car and he is wearing a mask. Maybe his fear is that his car could give him the virus. IDK.
Is it any wonder that Americans are having trouble these days with the virus? Should there even have been a funeral with 50 people present? We have ideas on how to control this but nobody can follow instructions. The only hope I see is when the vaccines are made available free by early February. Until then ignorance will keep killing us. Anyone with any ideas?
Yeah, St Charles county says all bars must close by 11. Guess you can't get the rona before that. IDIOTS!
In Iowa, the magic deadline is 10 pm. Like the virus is on a clock and half-assed measures like this will make any diff.
I have visited MO recently to see my friend who lives in Overland Park, KS, and I have seen how backward, ignorant, and careless they are about Covid there. Even worse than here in Iowa, which I didn't think was possible. I agree with you that until the vaccine has been available for months, assuming even that most of these idiots will agree to take it, the misery will just continue as it has.
I live in Overland Park. Neighbors on both sides of my house have been having visitors, parties, etc. since Spring. No masks or social distancing. Not to mention the hours of anti-mask (aka “freedom&rdquo comments at the county’s public hearings on mask mandates. It’s truly a city under the influence...
It's very concerning to me how many people are not taking this virus seriously, including some very close friends of mine. It's explicable only by the fact that we had the top leadership of the country saying that COVID is no big deal, and half the population believe only what Fox News tells them to. A lot of deaths could have been avoided by some strong central leadership and 50-state cooperation.
