A cell phone carries a single lithium power cell, as opposed to early phones which carried a battery of cells.
Battery is actually the plural, though it is commonly used now as the singular as well for a power cell.

Battery used in oil field as well. At least when I work for a guy he said we were painting batteries. It was the large crude oil tanks.

A ball and chain! I feel a bit of a rebel because I walk out the door knowing my phone is nowhere near me.
