Today, 17th December, in 1964 saw the premiere in London of the third James Bond film. Goldfinger. It starred Sean Connery and Honor Blackman, and the theme was sung by Shirley Bassey. It arrived in Edinburgh a short time later and I remember standing in the longest cinema queue ever to see it...it was showing in the Edinburgh Playhouse which had the largest capacity of any cinema or theatre in the U.K. at that time, built in 1929 it was designed by renowned cinema architect James Fairweather and modelled on The Roxy Cinema in New York.

So? What exactly is your point. It’s still an indisputable fact that the movie Goldfinger premiered on this day in 1964. In any case I also posted about Wilbur & Orville Wright’s great feat also happening on this same day in 1903.
Ah, mum used to take us to see the Bond movies when we were kids. I took her to see Skyfall last time we went together

My dad loved Bond films and so did my husband...in fact the whole family loves them. They seem to constantly rotate them on TV and I’m sure some of them will be showing over Xmas. My own favourite film is From Russia With Love, and Sean Connery definitely my favourite in the role.
@Marionville Oh favourite Bond, that polarises people. Especially when I admit I like the Pierce Brosnan era. I thought he was lovely, the stunts were amusing and the scripts were fun. I’ll have to watch some Sean Connery ones over my long weekends off 
@girlwithsmiles I liked Pierce Brosnan in the role too, just not as much as I liked Sean.
No one could measure up to Sean Connery as Bond in my opinion. Simon Templar turned the role into a comedy I thought.
@Barnie2years Yes....Roger Moore certainly played it tongue in cheek and rather too much so I’d say.
