What goes on between the dash is what matters. Meaning what's on the gravestone...what happens inbetween that dash is all that counts in life.
Money matters to a point. If your living off other people, unable to support yourself, it doesn’t matter how big your heart is, you need a job and some motivation. Walk, if you’re worried about your carbon footprint, but be walking to work.
I agree. Just took an interesting course on altruism through coursera.org. It discusses the most effective ways to help others. One proposed idea is making as much money as possible, and then committing to donating a large portion to worthwhile charities. There's also great discussions about what constitutes a worthwhile charity.
For some people that would be true, but for alot of people that is not how they feel, like President Orange Julius. It would be great if that were reality, but it isn't, and l see absolutely nothing that is going to change that reality.
I certainly cannot make any claim to the effect that I know what constitutes reality for everyone. But I most definitely can foster altruism as opposed to materialism.
Ultimately none of that matters either.
But at least it’s a kinder world if adopted.
