It refers to desire to return to the 1950's when our society was expanding exponentially after WWII. But the underbelly of the movement really desires to return to the 1950's when white privilege was experiencing one its greatest periods of control and dominance over other marginalized groups. Jim Crow was at its worst. MAGA really stands for make America white again. Changing demographics has begun to make white privilege a thing of the past and minority groups are finally taking a piece of the pie owed them for their labors and continued contributions to keeping America alive and economically moving forward.
