My profession and my desire to be honest on this site are not necessarily compatible. Therefore I have to keep both separate. There are things that I reference on this site that I would rather my coworkers or otherwise didn't gossip about including relationship advice and personal issues so I don't post pictures. If I get to know someone and they want me to send pictures I don't have a problem with that though.

Rarely works to generalize, and you may miss out on a good one ... I've been in touch with some without photos, that had very legitimate reasons for their choice. If I was interested in other aspects I'd ask for a privately sent photo.

This site is not just a dating site, I think it's less and less that, Some peoples profile pics reflects their personality better than just a posed pic. More information about their likes, attitudes toward things etc., can be gleaned from their comments, likes, poll answers and posts. This gives you an incite before you click on the main profile of that person. Sometimes you won't delve any deeper if the face profile pic isn't what you like.

There are a lot of reasons for that. Just look at the profiles with pictures. WHo knows if that is really their image?

It makes one wonder if they are up to something dishonest, too shy, or so insecure about their looks that they consider them a deterrent to finding a partner. It makes me suspect a person may have way more baggage than I would want to encounter.

I agree. Sometimes they might feel a need to hide for other reasons - like not wanting people from where they work or other social groups to be able to identify them, but being married tops the list of possible reasons for doing it I think.
