Performance Management - Noun. The act of constantly requiring presentations and reports from employees about their work to justify their schedule. Then when they end up not having enough time to do their real work, demanding more reports and presentations about how the first set of reports and presentations kept them from getting their work done.
No joke: I actually survived a couple of workplaces in which this happened! I managed to get real work done, and some good work, but can only wonder how much more could have been done without those useless talkfests. Now, when I run meetings, I try to make sure they are useful, efficient and to-the-point.
We are going through this now.
