Australian law could make internet โunworkableโ, says World Wide Web inventor Tim Berners-Lee
Warning comes amid rising tensions between Australian law makers, news publishers and tech giants
The best way to deal with these tech monsters is to 1. Regulate them, and 2. Tax their appalling profits globally, so this wealth is distributed. Our government's protect the traditional media approach is typical right wing thinking, while pandering to their industry support base, like Murdoch.
I'm all for re-distributing wealth, but . . .
Businesses don't pay taxes, their customers ultimately do.
The whole reason this law was passed in Australia is because Murdoch (a "media monster" ) "paid" his politicians to pass it.
I've never heard of businesses asking to be paid to have customers sent to them.
