This is so true. The people attracted to govern are megalomaniacs and narcissists. This is why present government needs a completely new system. I'd like to see members of the public who are experts in their field (whether military, of social services or whatever portfolio) approached and asked if they would like to serve their country in that particular field. We could still vote but we would be voting for someone who actually knew something about the field in which they were going to serve. Also I think a mental health check should be a pre-requisite for all who want to enter politics.
