Attention: This is all in German and Plattdeutsch.
I am posting this report from Carolinensiel. a fishing harbor by the North Sea. As a child, I sometimes got to visit here. Of course, everything looks slightly different, but I recognize some landmarks. I have never witnessed the christening and launching of a ship close by, only from a distance. That was interesting.
By the way, the old guy with the baseball cap, Heinzi, is 90 years old. All his work is voluntary, to keep busy.
I am watching this through tears streaming down my face. I will never see this place again, too old, too broken, so these reports a wonderful. And by no small measure because of the language. The Northern dialect is a delight to my ears. I just love the part on the burial by sea ( toward the end of the report)
Have a great Sunday.
Have a great day!
I can't afford to travel never did .... would have loved it in my youth but I bought kids
I can not understand a word of course, but it looks beautiful. Sad that you feel you will not be able to travel. My friend, who is very elderly, loved travel more than anything, I am still trying to persuade her that she can still make a trip or two, even if we have to hire a nurse to travel on the plane with us.
