HOT or COLD, or somewhere in between maybe...
What kind of showers do you prefer?
I like taking very hot showers and always rinse with very cold.
There is plenty of info out there about the benifits of cold showers, and I prefer to do what one does in a spa, hot then cold, opens your pores, tightens the skin and makes ya feel alive!
Showers? How about baths?
I take very hot baths some times, with lavender Epson salts...
I like warm water, not hot.
But cold water is better for your skin, and besides, that's all I get here in Thailand.
Typically, only "farang" -foreigners-insist on renting rooms with hot water, so I pay cheaper rent for the same quality rooms because I don't use AC or hot water, and besides, electricity is expensive here.
Hot and Cold its my nature to have extremes. Actually I like it hot in the winter and cold in the summer. But as you age things start to change, the skins elasticity isn't there anymore especially for a woman. When you rent a place you have to take what you can get as far as water is concerned. ..
Warm all around. My skin doesn't like extremes one way or the other, but I do seem more tolerant of the cold weather.....not necessarily cold water.
I used to stand in a hot shower til the hot ran out. Then we got a tankless water heater, it was like heaven. Then I divorced, and left that house. Now, several years later I try to keep showers as fast as possible. I'm 60 and my skin dries out so quickly. I feel like I need a bath in lotion.
Sigh, getting older sucks, but not getting older is not a good option.
@The_Librarian Pat dry?....who is Pat?
@The_Librarian "...and henceforth she shall be named Pat and christened there after and shall be known as the kingdoms 'Ultimate Dryer, always willing to sacrifice her own moisture levels to please her master, her 'heir-apparent.." (in my best English accent)
Warm. However, I like to rinse my hair with a vinegar solution and very cold water. The vinegar removes any chemicals and the cold stimulates blood flow. That is why I still have a full head of brown hair with only a bit of gray.
Who uses filters in the shower? I do.
I have to...the water is sooooo GD hard here, well water. The entire house needs one, but my shower is the most important, since your skin is your largest organ, right?
@Agr8m8 Fortunately, the water here is not hard....but I use filters to prevent the chemicals -most of them- from affecting my skin.
@Agr8m8 I also have a well (but I now use water from a rain harvest system). My water was hard and full of iron. The iron can be filtered out along the line with a paper filter. There are whole house filters that use activated charcoal (like a Brita) that removes the Calcium carbonate.
@JackPedigo I use the charcoal filter in my shower.
I like it very hot but not on my face so I cool it down a bit to rinse, just enough to not feel like I’m getting burnt
Hot in winter (or if there's air conditioning) because it makes joint and muscle pain disappear. Less hot in summer.
It's fortunate now that my skin was oily in my youth, so the drying of age has brought it to "normal."
I was the same way, left "normal" skin behind maybe 4 years ago. Youth is so wasted on the young.
In countless ways, @HippieChick58!
I have a warm shower every three months whether I need it or not .
I used to enjoy pretty hot showers....until the day I woke up with an eczema that covered almost my entire back; it was hot and feverish. The dermatologist prescribed some meds but I ignored him and used coconut oil, Eczema gone in two days. Now, only warm showers.
My shower temp depends on the time of year; warmer in winter, cooler in summer. I always dry brush my skin first. Since I've been doing this (two years now), I never get that dry, scaley winter skin. My skin stays nice and smooth year round. I also use coconut oil to moisturize most days.
I like a warm shower. Hot water dries out my skin, and I'm cold natured so cold showers don't work for me either.
