A very interesting perspective of an American that worked in China, and what the Chinese think about us..
This guy is great...love to meet up, sit down and chat an hour or two...
We're on the same page...mmm...maybe 70-80%
I found myself questioning his knowledge of historical China...and how nothing
there is really new stuff...Chinese brag of a 5000 year history. This is 5000 years
of dynasty, of monarchal history. (It's little difference now...the names are changed...but...)
Finally...a lot has been said of the changes in policy brought about by American administration
changes.
The fact is that Chinese leadership has an enormous impact on east-west relations...I have many
friends from when I lived there(2008-2010) who were ecstatically hopeful of China's relationship
with the world, who want nothing but to get out today, The reign of hujintao was a golden era; the
present of autocrat and cult-leader xixingping, a downward spiral...
My eldest son is a translator who has worked for numerous Sino American trade missions, he speaks fluent Mandarin and is a Canadian who grew up in the US; I expect that his position would be similar to the commentator on this video clip. Having worked with Cantonese mobsters in the construction industry I can corroborate the cultural perception that some Chinese people have about Westerners, aka Barbarians.
That said, all empires seek to expand and dominate others, America found a niche after WWI and China is 'waking up' from a centuries long slumber, they will want to expand and dominate and they will vilify their competition, theWest. Expect turbulent times ahead, hopefully sanity will prevail.
