The Derek Chauvin Trial
How long would each of us think it over before tackling Chauvin off Floyd? Who among us could honestly say we would, particularly knowing it would be the right thing to do seeing him being murdered in front of our eyes? Who could we expect to come to our defense in ways that matter?
Can't remember the comic who "joked," "if you see cops kicking my ass, put down the camera and help me."
Stunned inaction happened across the board. And that's in no ways blame, but it is a reality of what transpired.
Yes. All these instances of judging bystanders, the black guy who kicked a 65 Asian woman is another, is BS. Judge no-one for they may have people who depend on them. IMO, we all need to start taking a look at our own egos and traumas and decide to make ourselves better. Create a better society from the ashes of our old thinking and do it now. Once it gets started it will build on itself so the first steps of making this demand become reality is essential. I don't see it, yet. Close but no commitment.
I remember how moved I was by the movie "Things We Lost in the Fire." Halle Berry's husband was trying to be the good guy, but in the back of my mind I kept thinking of the responsibilty he had to his own wife and kids.
Assume for a moment that I am a black man. If I was to go to Floyd's assistance I would be assured that Chauvin would shoot to kill me.
Um yeah, tackling an armed police officer is basically suicide (unless it's done as a group), but that is the trauma Chauvin inflicted on the onlookers. it is bizarre that Chauvin would simply use the side of the car to block the murder. Amazing that emergency responders still had to push Chauvin off Floyd's dead body. Really sad that Floyd may have passed the fake 20 without knowing it was fake. The real question is what percent of police forces are Chauvin wannabees?
Any percentage greater than zero percent is too high, and there are far too many bigoted, violent and murderous cops around.
@Anglophone Ya think?
@racocn8 Yes, sadly, and they spoil it for all the honest hard working cops.
