I cannot find my last post so will do it again and hope it is not a duplicate... Marvin Gaye's WHAT'S GOING ON.

Here was an amazingly talented human being who reached out to help change the world. He was stuck down in the prime of his life by his abusive father who was a nut case, Pentecostal minister. We were talking about how parents cannot accept their children's beliefs on here today, and vice versa, so I find this song particularly relevant, plus being a Sunday and all.

Yes, the senior Gaye killed his son, but the story I remember reading was that Marvin was high on something and attacked his father. It was a tragedy all the way around, but I think both parties had some responsibility for what happened.

This is from Wikipedia.

Death of Marvin Gaye
At 12:38 p.m. (PST) on April 1, 1984, while Gaye was in his bedroom, his father Marvin Gay Sr. shot Gaye in the heart and then in his left shoulder, the latter shot taken at point-blank range. Minutes earlier, the two men had been involved in a physical altercation when Gaye intervened in a fight between his parents. The first shot proved to be fatal. Gaye was pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m. (PST) after his body arrived at California Hospital Medical Center, one day short of his 45th birthday.

After Gaye's funeral, his body was cremated at Forest Lawn Memorial Park at the Hollywood Hills; his ashes were later scattered into the Pacific Ocean. Initially charged with first-degree murder, Gay Sr.'s charges dropped to voluntary manslaughter following a diagnosis of a brain tumor. Gaye's autopsy revealed the singer had drugs in his system. Marvin Gay Sr. was later sentenced to a suspended six-year sentence and probation. He died at a nursing home in 1998.
