With its cultish devotion to Donald Trump, the majority of the Republican Party is choosing a wannabe-autocrat over the political system that made the United States the world's most powerful nation and its dominant democracy.
The ex-President is showing that he doesn't have to be in the Oval Office to damage faith in US elections and to trash truth, as his movement based on lies and personal homage takes an increasingly firm grip of the Republican Party. The widespread mistrust he continues to foster in the fairness of the US political system among millions of voters poses grave risks to democracy itself.

Five nights a week, an average of more than 3 million people tune in to watch Tucker Carlson on Fox News—it's the largest audience of any show on cable news.
In April alone, those millions of viewers have heard Carlson claim that COVID-19 vaccines don't work, that having children wear masks to protect them from the virus is child abuse, that convicted murderer Derek Chauvin did nothing wrong, and that Democrats want to replace white voters with immigrants—a decades-old racist and antisemitic argument known as the "replacement theory."
Carlson and Fox News are integral parts of the Trump "Firehose of Falsehoods" that is used to convince millions of people to support a wannabe fascist dictator and eliminate democracy in America.
@SeaGreenEyez There's actually a LOT of hope. But, we cannot let up on the pressure. We have to stick their faces into their lies, over and over.
I find comfort in his out of shape physique and excessive age, which means we will be blessed by his death sooner rather than later.
He's a living study in the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Yes, he is a walking, talking, bloviating POS, and I regret that he's using oxygen on our planet. BUT, with his golf schedule and his meanness, he might survive long enough to do a LOT more damage.
