Two types of gun owners: Those, like myself, who have a weapon they hope they never have to use.
Those who are hoping for the chance to draw that weapon on someone. (bad guy, government, etc...)
Is there not a third type of person? somebody who sees they are not trusted with a firearm and so choose not to have a weapon that can make mistakes that are irreversable.
There are many who fear guns because they are not familiar with them and think they just go off and shoot. They were never exposed to them and many have not shot a gun and experienced how much fun it can be. I have been shooting since I was 10 years old. I was not really trained regarding a weapon until I was in the Marines. There in lies the problem. People are exposed to weapons without the proper training just as I was.Not only do they not know how to handle them but how to store them. These are the same people who vote against themselves frighten about regulations that might take their guns away and should from these people. The people making the laws have not been trained to shoot properly and they make silly laws. If the people who know guns made the laws we would be better off.
