This is an item up for sale at icollector.com, an on-line auction site. It's part of the Ricky Henson Estate sale if you care to bid on it. The sale actually starts at 10:00 their time in Texas. The description says it's a 'Navajo Rug Whirling Logs & Lightning Bolts'. I wonder is this where the Nazis got that symbol.. Current on-line bid is $475.00.
The symbol is common on asian maps. Indicates temples.
That's interesting. I grew up in Tuba City, AZ -- kind of wedged between the Navajo and Hopi reservations (1960-1970). We had several rugs that my parents had gotten as gifts, etc.
I don't remember any swastikas anywhere and I wonder how old these are and where exactly they came from.
When we were there, the natives were quite poor (I know they still are) and were always searching for an angle to make their 'crafts' sell better.
I wonder if the swastika symbol has become a trend as a marketing gimmick somehow/somewhere on the reservation.
It's disturbing to me to see it.
the symbol has been used for hundreds of years, I doubt they used it as a ploy for more money even though the struggle for survival is real.
This ended up going for $900.00
