FUCK JOE MANCHIN. that's it. that's the post.
I don't want to agree with Manchin on anything but this article brings out a different point of view. Harry Reid finally gave in and changed the Senate rules on 60 votes for presidential appointments except the Supreme Court. This paved the way for the hundreds of lower court approvals during the Trump administration.
"No one would wield more power than Joe Manchin if the filibuster goes. He wants to keep it - The San Diego Union-Tribune" [sandiegouniontribune.com]manchin-if-the-filibuster-dies-he-wants-to-keep-it?_amp=true
except if we end the filibuster now, democrats would be what we are, the majority, for a generation. and, republicans would be what they are, a minority, for a generation. besides, at it's core, i have no problem with the majority passing it's legislation. the house of representatives ended the filibuster in the late 1800's. why should the senate keep it, which is no where in the constitution, into the early 2000's.
I almost could understand of he were up for re-election, but he's not up til 2024 when he's probably going to lose anyway.
Will he lose to a Republican or a Democrat?
@Lorajay He thinks white voters in his state will reelect him. He might be right. It's white conservatives that put him in the Senate. Whatever you think of him, there wouldn't be a Democrat majority without him. The person who gets successfully primaried and should is Kyrsten Sinema in Arizona.
