Yesterday I got a cortisone shot in my right hand for carpal tunnel syndrome. A few hours afterwards, my hand was painful and I could hardly move it. This morning it's useless (and it's my dominant hand!). For any medical professionals (or fellow carpal tunnel sufferers) is this normal? I'm beginning to think it was a mistake to let the doctor do that, seeing as I wasn't feeling any pain (just numbness in my fingers at night).
UPDATE: I went to a medical facility yesterday and talked to one of the nurses there, and someone at the doctor's office answered me today. Both said not to be too concerned unless it lasts more than 48 hours. My hand is still painful today, but better. I was panicking because there was a LOT of drama surrounding this shot that I don't want to talk too much about outside of a therapist's office (in fact I did talk to a therapist yesterday, as well as a fellow patient, and both of them made me feel better). Many thanks to all of you who responded (or reacted to the post).
Yes ma’am . First 48 hrs it seems worse after the injection . Then it gets better
@altschmerz to my observations , those shots never really work for anyone . I think u can get those twice a year .
Surgical intervention will fix the issue , but I am not blaming u for not running to it . U gonna have to sit down w specialist and really discuss everything and decide sweetie ♥️
@altschmerz msg me if u want pls . I am at work but I will respond when things slow down . I am here if u need me
Get help now that's not what was supposed to happen
@altschmerz Go to the ER if you don't get a rapid reply
@altschmerz None of the things happening should be , I have carpal tunnel and the specialist I see never wanted to inject cortisone , anti inflammatory drugs and topical voltaren. Surgery by a hand specialist is the cure
@altschmerz Get better and get better doctors
Get medical help. That doesn't sound normal.
Keep us informed about how you are doing.
So sorry to hear this! I hope you get medical attention soon!
This is NOT normal, call that doctor back immediately!
I have had numerous cortisone shots in knees, hands, other joints, maybe 2-3 dozen over my 72 years, and Never heard of this!
@altschmerz @AnneWimsey Totally agree my wife has carpel tunnel and this is not normal, call the doc. or go to the emergency room
@altschmerz let us know what happens!
