If you are super connected to the wonderous earth, , does that make me a spiritual atheist ? I feel something special.
The way I see it is we all all are matter , space junk carbon "stardust "and therefore the tiniest part of this particular universe. There is a oneness for me but no god no zeus , no fear.. just being here now... with as much laughter as possible !
We are The Universe waking up.
@iamjc How long you got?
The Universe began and was unconscious
Eventually life began
Life is digital
Digital technology evolves exponentially
Eventually that created consciousness, sentience and self awareness
That is the Universe becoming aware of itself (waking up)
We have created other digital technologies which we will merge with
The exponential growth will continue
Eventually the whole Universe could become self aware of itself
We are the Universe waking up
What I mean by Life is Digital is that all Biological life is created from a Digital Genetic Code. Computers use 0s and 1s. DNA uses G, C, A and T. They are hugely different systems but they are both digital i.e. They use digits to build more complex systems.
The digital nature of life is only important because digital systems seem to have the ability to grow exponentially, as seen in CPU power of computers over the last century and over millions of years of biological life systems.
For a long time nothing seems to happen but with all exponentials it eventually hits the knee of the curve and shoots up dramatically. We saw this with the Cambrian Explosion with biological life and we are set to see it in the next few decades with CPU power. Not even taking into account the possible paradigm shift of Quantum Computers.
We are creating the next paradigm shift in Life by creating AI with consciousness, predicted to be around 2029. We are doing in decades what the Universe took billions of years to do. We are creating conscious entities from unconscious matter. Once this happens it is only a matter of time before all matter in the Universe could become conscious.
The Universe created conscious beings in us and we are speeding that process up.
That is what I meant by We are the Universe waking up.
We are ALL connected to our mother, Earth... and through her, each other.
May I suggest you explore shamanism? No gods, no dogma, no hierarchy, nothing but you and your journey, communing with your spirit guide/power animal.
It really matters not down which path you journey, as long as you keep seeking.
If two people are arguing about the existence of God, IMO neither of them has the least idea of what he or she is talking about. For me, religion consists of a deep awareness and appreciation for the staggering implications of existence, in all its mystery and magnificence. Faith and belief are shams. No one KNOWS anything. The most honest state is to be totally bewildered IMO.
That's one of the sad things about so many people nowadays, isn't it? How disconnected from nature humans have become; probably the worst thing that can/does happen to us. I feel good that I believe I helped instill a real appreciation for nature and the natural world in my daughter.
@Morganfreeman you can believe that if it makes you feel better. I disagree, and that makes me feel better, that I have hope for the future.
I called myself a scientific pantheist for many years, ok, since I was 14. I dropped the spiritual side of things, more due to perception and just bluntly say atheist now. I know the term agnosic is accurate for most people but to me the term is a bit wishy/washy. It (to me) gives into the argument that you cannot disprove there is a god, that you cannot know with certaintly there is no god. I don't fall for that. I believe there is no god. However I love this site . [pantheism.net]
It is worth a read.
Seeing more people who feel a connection to the planet and all life, really makes me feel better.
Your part of nature and share DNA with many life forms so it makes you natural
i don't consider myself spiritual. i do however, feel much more connected to nature than i do to the modern urban world. i do think everything is connected, but i don't feel any sort of spiritual connection to anything. i just feel more at peace in nature. i can slow my mind down and weed thru my thoughts and find what really matters. also the systems at play in nature make more sense to me. i don't usually understand what makes people do what they do, plants and animals and all that just make more sense to me.
I agree, humans are no different than cockroaches on this planet. We are all made of stardust. But I do believe nature does make some of us feel better- being in the woods or by water just gives a sense of well being. I know I feel it. Maybe it is just being in tune with our humble beginings.
I get the greatest sense of comfort in knowing I'm just part of a life cycle. I don't consider myself spiritual at all though.
