Mike Lindell, the My Pillow Guy, has picked August the 13th as the day Donald Trump will be "reinstated" and claims all his evidence will go to the Supreme Court on that day. It does not matter that they are not in session then and do not hear this kind of thing to start with. Lindell has dropped his pillow prices by $40 hoping to get your attention because some advertisers have stopped carrying him. Maybe Lindell can get lucky and his pillow price can be reinstated. Who knows?
I find it amazing just how ignorant of government processes these trump supporters are, as well as how downright stupid they seem to think the rest of us are. At the recent CPAC conference, trump supporters passed out card with a 7 point plan to reinstate trump to the presidency. One step was to replace Nancy Pelosi with with trump as Speaker of the House. Then he would write up Articles of Impeachment to remove Pres. Biden and VP Harris from their offices. Then as Speaker, trump would assume the presidency. For starters, trump hasn't been elected to the House, so he has no chance of becoming Speaker without first becoming a representative. The next problem is that the House currectly has more Democrats than Republican so the highest position trump could attain in the House would be Minority Leader. I don't believe this position is even mentioned as being in line to assume the presidency. But let's assume trump was able to become Speaker. The passage of Articles of Impeachment is by no means a given. I believe some radical elements in the House have already written up Articles of Impeachment on Biden and it was completely ignored because it had no basis for consideration. But even if this plan got so far as the House passing Articles of Impeachment, the matter then goes to the Senate for trial and requires a two third majority to remove the president. With the current 50/50 split in the Senate, how likely is that? Not to mention that the issues for Impeachment would have to have some merit.
The other issue is just how stupid these trump supporters think the rest of us are. One example is the complete nonsense characterization of the Jan 6 insurrection. Sen. Ron Johnson and other tried to tell us that day was just like any other with visitors to the Capital. So, the House and Senate have to be evacuated every day they are in session because of visitors? The Speaker's office is invaded and her belomgings stolen by normal visitors? Regular visitors to the Capital break windows and smeat feces on the walls? One would to live under a rock in the back of a deep dark cave to believe such pure BS. How they can even utter these kinds of outright lies is far beyond my comprehension. The disconnect from reality is truly amazing.
Unfortunately there is no rule, law or anything to prevent it. 45 can be selected to become speaker of the house he doesn't need to be a rep. already. Most likely it would be McCarthy with would be pretty much the same thing as he would do anything 45 tells him to do.
@GrooshStar - The Speaker is an elected position from amoung the dominant party in the House and has always been a member elected as a Representative. How trump would ever be elected to that position before 2023 (after the 2022 midterm elections and assuming Republicans take control of the House) is only the first hurdle. I understand that we have a rogue Republican party which seems increasing to make up their own rules as they go along (while accusing Democrats of doing the same) but there is a point that even some within their sychophant members would need to say they are bending the rules too far. We already see some of that going on. As far back as 2016 when trump was elected we saw certain prominent conservative journalists such as George Will leave the Republican party to become independents. More recently, we have seen a few other Republicans push back against the trump nonsense attempts to pervert our government, and Republican party has lost membership. The Lincoln Project was formed by former Republicans who could not stomach what the Republican party had become under trump (I'd like to think kt was also because of McConnell, but that may not be correct). I have trouble believing that as Republicans would need to break traditions and Constitutional rules in order to reinstate trump as president, that enough of them would break ranks and not allow it to happen. trump has no scruples and he may know how to apply pressure to get some of what he wants, but not everything. Certain Republicans (and Democrats) may have none either, but not all of them. It's difficult for me go believe that the plan to reinstate trump as president - especially within the next 30 day - has a snowball's chance in hell of coming to pass.
@RussRAB WRONG! Yes the speaker has to be selected by the ruling party BUT there is NO rule saying that person has to be a current member of the house. Yes it has always been that person has been a current member but we've already seem them trample on norms.
@GrooshStar - Fine. He would still need to be elected Speaker by the House which currently has a majority of Democrats. Not any too likely trump will be elected with this make up of the House. Yes, Republicans - especially the trump variety - will trample the norms when given the chance. Even so, they would need to get around the majority Democrats in both Houses of Congress. When voting determines to outcome, it is not likely that trump will be elected Speaker ousting Pelosi or that Articles of Impeachment will pass on Biden. Then there is very little doubt the Senate majority of Democrats will convict and remove Biden as President even if Impeachment passes the House. It's just one ultra long shot after another. More likely trump would attempt another coup to take over the Presidency.
@RussRAB agreed.
I used believe in when Santa and the Easter Bunny were coming on a particular date, but that didn't make either of those happen, so rotsa ruck to Lindell on his prediction with Trump's reinstatement.
