There has never been a country governed by the church or religious leaders that wasn't oppressive and cruel, especially toward women.

I am saddened by the loss of freedom that will be experienced by Afghani women. Just like The rebirth of terrorism it is going to happen regardless of when we leave. If that is really one of our primary goals please tell me why we have never attacked Saudi Arabia?

I like the right to be stoned, but not the way they do it.

Life is very hard for women in all Orthodoxies. That's why societies should, in my opinion, keep the religious element fully separated from the public.
