YOU MAY DEFEAT US BUT YOU'LL NEVER DEFEAT OUR POVERTY
What caught my eye was how he explained what "poverty" is meant here. It is the extreme endurance and tolerance of the Afghan tribes who live in the mountains in the rugged and intolerable environment. What "poverty" means is you can defeat us with weapons, armies and man-power but you cannot outlast us with minimal subsistence, extreme tolerance of harshness of conditions and life here. This explains enough how empires could not last in that region for thousands of years.
Gee, anybody see any parallels with Vietnam?
Yes, I do. But we declare victory unilaterally. When the US lost Vietnam, we were in school and I remember uncles and men in the neighborhood talking about the news. I asked what are you laughing about they said the Vietnamese were to persistent, not giving up in spite of continuous bombing, killing by the Americans, they fought from the tunnels underground, stayed empty stomach and defeated the United States.
When I came to the US, I started seeing heroic movies of Chuck Norris of how he kicked Vietnamese bad guys and how single handedly we defeated them. It was pathetic. It takes grace, integrity, honesty to admit we lost.
I would like Biden and his incompetent wacos to say in a press conference that we fucked up. The secretary of defense said nobody predicted the fast takeover by the Taliban while a Pentagon memo of May 2021 said that Taliban would advance very fast and was poised to take control.
Every country sings its own victory songs and teaches its own version of history. I came to the US brainwashed that India was the greatest country in the world. I do not want that to happen here.
