I think a person should be able to give another person a black mark. If a person gets so many black marks he or she is neutered.

What earns a person a black mark.?

I'm all for zero population growth. I don't believe that anyone should be tagged a breeder or not. Zero population growth basically, for me, means if you are single person you have one child . couples can have two.

The math doesn't work for one person one child. The average life span is 78 so a couple that is the same age would have to wait until they are in they are around 30 to have that one child just to keep the population static. . There is an equation for this but I haven't able to find it. I agree with skdeitch we need to to reverse the population. From what I've read around two billion is ideal and solves a lot of the problems with planet earth. To get there some couples can't have children.

I've always pondered the idea of needing a special license to have children. The requirements could be something along the lines of

  • Pass a psychological evaluation
  • Federal background check
  • Can't have ever been charged with rape, murder, pedophilia, etc.
  • Must pass a short parenting course
  • Also pay a small fee

I don't know how well a baby license would work if it were ever actually implemented though.

I never really could decide on the punishment if the law is violated. I was always thinking the child would be removed from your custody and you'd be heavily fined.

I agree with all the above with a longer list

Screen for hereditary afflictions. We could have Down Syndrome gone in a couple of generations.

couples should all have one child and then the next generation the same. after that everyone can have two and the population would stay at a much more realistic 2 billion but it won't happen. that would mean dropping all religions and everyone helping everyone on the planet. whats going to happen is we will breed and breed until something gives. personally, i think its already too late and if it isn't it will carry on till it is.

I really believe it's too late myself. You could come up with a good, reasonable way of solving this problem but it could never be accepted or be enforced without going to war. Seems like everybody here agrees with one child and I believe should be implemented tomorrow but as you say it won't happen.

My vote is for a complete end to human breeding. It's time to let another species rise to the top of the food chain.

that's whats going to happen.

I can go along with that. Not necessarily the breeding part but the having a child part.

practising is the best part

@Bucky12: the mating part of breeding is fine, so long as the second part — production of offspring — isn't achieved. 😉

in fact, if you do the baby part it's harder to do the practise part anyway
