A defamation suit accusing former President Trump of rape will move forward as planned, a federal judge said Wednesday.
Why it matters: E. Jean Carroll sued Trump for defamation after he branded her a liar for publicly alleging that he raped her in the mid-1990s. Trump's legal team had requested that the judge delay the suit while an appeals court determines whether the United States can be substituted as the defendant in the case. (Trump wants taxpayers to be on the hook for his comments, even though his comments were personal and had nothing to do with hsi actions as president)
And the supposedly non-partisan DOJ totally went along with it.
This is a civil lawsuit. The DOJ isn't involved as they have no jurisdiction over civil cases.
@racocn8 That is just wrong. For the reasons her attorney stated.
I do no think that comments about sex, or personally accusations, fall, in any way, as conducting job duties when the person making such statements are doing so out of personal interests and not the interests of his/her employer.
I think the Biden DOJ is definitely wrong on this.
