Hi friends. My mom passed away yesterday. I was by her side when she went, with my brother and 2 of his daughters. I've lost my best friend but am okay because she is no longer battling dementia. She was a incredible woman and I am proud to have been her daughter.

Condolences on the loss of your mother. Dementia is horrible. My Dad's currently in the late stage of this despicable disease

Oh, I feel for you, truly. Its not an easy road. I wish you strength to get thru it. Thanks for your kind words.

I’m deeply saddened for your loss and I understand as years ago I lost the greatest man I’ve ever know, my father it was extraordinarily painful but I knew he was free from his wrecked body and intractable pain

Hang in there. I've lost my Dad already, & my Mom is 89 on Monday, so I walk on eggshells, so to speak. Condolences & best wishes!

Thank you.

Best Wishes during your mourning times. My mom is 91 I think we are prepared but then again... is our Mom. My Sympathy.

Its hard but she needed to pass. No quality of life. Thank you.

@Presley1209 Quality of Life is Very Important, my grandmother passed on a Saturday when she wss scheduled to have a leg removed on a Monday. And I understood it was her choice.

I am sorry for your loss. My mother too died from complications of dementia, so I understand the harship she endured.

Isn't it awful? I feel we are all freed of this disease. Thank you.

A little relieved?

Yes, very much so actually. She was gone a long time ago, if you know what I mean.

@Presley1209 yes

My condolences to you and your family. Celebrate her life and not her death. It's a time of mouring and grieving. RIP.

You are right on! Thank you!

@Presley1209 Thanks.

I wish I could say something that would lessen this loss. My condolences to you.

You are very kind. Thank you.

I ran a dementia support group for years so know the heartbreak you have been thru. She will always be no further away than your heart, cherish only her good memories and let the rest go. Take care!

Thank you and we are. I had a hard time remembering old memories cuz the last 6 years have been so difficult. You give good advice and I thank you.

I'm sorry to hear of your loss. I think you're looking at it the right way - my grandmother, having spent most of her life alone after her husband died when she was still young, was fiercely independent and proud of it; in her last few years her health prevented that and she hated it, so it was in a way a relief when she went.

Yes it is a relief. Many years of heartbreak watching her decline. Thank you.

Sorry, for your lose. Having a mother in law in care suffering from dementia I completely understand those mixed feelings.

1

sorry for your loss but as you say she is feeling nothing now and peaceful for ever.

1

Very sorry for your loss. You only get one mom.

1

My condolences. I wish you the best.

I'm sorry for your loss. The loss of a parent is heartbreaking and when that parent is also your best friend it crumbles it.

My mom also had dementia and she passed away seven years ago. There isn’t a day that goes by that she isn’t in my thoughts. Dementia changed everything, a thief that took the best part of her. All I have left are the memories and there are many. I talk about her as often as I can, it keeps her close to me. Maybe it will for you too.
