Except Democrats didn't create Covid. But sooner or later some Republican will say it anyway, and a lot of other willfully ignorant, misinformed Republicans will believe it, and there you go.
Who created covid? Everyone wants to know. I think the "acquired from natural environment" idea was tossed not long after Trump left office and it became obvious there was insufficient evidence. But it's quiet, not talked about too much.
@Flowerwall Not that it matters, because the U.S. didn't have anything to do with it even if it DID escape from a lab, regardless of what Rand Paul and his type say about it.
Someday we'll all know, but what difference does it make right now? Paul and those other idiots are making it as hard as humanly possible to get this thing contained no matter how many people die.
And they call US evil.
@Storm1752 Well Colin Powell died today and was fully vaccinated. It was probably more of an age thing.
I will say I heard an idea expressed on yt regarding covid, I don't know if it was specifically regarding covid, but something truly awful. I don't know how much of this stuff is true, how much is exaggerated, and because it is a horrific idea that would be very unsettling, I will not repeat it. It had elements that sounded like it could have truth in it, or possibly a very believable sounding lie. It's not easy to know. I think people are just doing the best they can under the circumstances. I don't think any one is out there intentionally causing people to die, I mean our elected officials. I don't think our elected officials would take a position they did not truly believe in to cause citizens to die. Rand Paul is a Dr., so if he were taking a false position he would be violating his oath as a Dr. and as a politician doing his own people in. He would have to be the biggest deceiver of all. I don't think he is lieing to us.
@Flowerwall WHAT "very believable lie" are you talking about? If it has to do with Colin Powell, he had a pre-existing autoimmune disease which suppressed the immune response the vaccine should have triggered to.combat covid-19. That why he died, okay? In his case, the vaccine's effectiveness was blocked by his pre-existing disease.
Rand Paul is an EYE DOCTOR, not a medical doctor. He has no special knowledge of coronaviruses. He went around badmouthing masks, safe distancing, school restrictions, vaccine mandates, you name it And he was wrong every time, just like Florida Governor DeSantis is dead wrong.
Paul was also dead wrong when he accused DOCTOR Fauci of a coverup of U.S. involvement in allegedly putting a lab virus in China "on steroids" to make it more easily studied, then carelessly alloweing it to escape the lab.. That CONSPIRACY THEORY LIE was first broadcast by right-wing nut job and Trump confidant Steve Bannon, with absolutely no proof whatsoever, misinformation originating from corrupt former Chinese officials intent on damaging the Chinese Communist Party.. So PLEASE don't be naive. Trump and
his mealy-mouthed henchman will perpetrate any hoax if it furthers their cause.
@Storm1752 "misinformation originating from corrupt former Chinese officials intent on damaging the Chinese Communist Party." What are you talking about here? Please specify exactly what you are talking about.
@Flowerwall Why don't YOU Google "Steve Bannon" and a few relevant words/phrases and check it out for yourself?
You know, people like you come up the most ridiculous statements without ever bothering to tap-tap-tap on that phone in your hand and finding out the readily-available truth with practically no effort, but you don't care, do you? You have lazy opinions based on your pre-existing biases, and seem to avoid anything which challenges the and make you THINK.
Deplorable. Annoying. Exasperating. The exact opposite of intelligent, informed discourse
@Storm1752 Since you were unwilling to verify your statement with facts and instead gave an emotional reaction, I am questioning its validity. I also am positive you or anyone else is NOT in a position to label a former CCP member as "corrupt and trying to damage CCP" because who is making that judgment call? I mean unless you yourself work closely with the agency.
The comment I made regarding information I saw on YT that is probably one of the most disturbing I have heard means people who side with Democrats need to WAKE UP. PLEASE WAKE UP! There are things that could be a threat to you, to all of us, our entire society! You need to vote Republican. It's upsetting because everything else they were saying was making sense. This is not some disinformation channel. I don't want to repost it because it's not something widely talked about, and I don't want to say "This very disturbing thing is true " but people need to get in the know. Start doing research. Ask yourself "what is really going on with this virus? Where did it come from? WHY did this happen?" There is no proof that this came from wild animals. At least Rand Paul is questioning and talking a more defensive posture against the whole idea of us funding bat coronavirus research in Wuhan. Do you think it's okay? You think it's not something to question? We need our govt to work to protect our health and safety from threats that come from outside of this nation.
I do also not think that all Republican officials who have taken anti-vaccine and anti-mask positions are absolutely correct. It's a different viewpoint, for sure, but you have to consult with your Dr. and get advice from people who have the best understanding of this virus. I don't know what Rand Paul is saying regarding it, but he wouldn't be the first person to take medical advice from as he is from an unrelated speacialty. You can certainly consider it, but your own Dr. is best and it's personalized advice.
@Flowerwall How can I tell if something you saw on the You Tube channel is "disturbing" if you won't say what it is? Are you afraid I'll look into it and conclude it's not "information" at all, but rather misinformation?
You Tube itself is OF COURSE not a "disinformation channel." Are you serious? But surely you're not claiming everything said on YT is true, are you?
I DID provide facts, about where Bannon got his "information" that covid-19 escaped from a lab in part thanks to U.S. incompetence, collusion with sinister globalist conspirators, or [insert your favorite diabolical reason here]. If you bothered to read about it, you might learn his probable self-serving motives for passing these blatant fictions along to his gullible listeners. If you want to verify what I'm saying, it's easy to do. But you won't.
Anyway, I don't know if you're being serious; if not, I think people like you enjoy being nonsensical to frustrate the rational arguments of your enemies. You don't really care about the truth, because if lies advance your larger agenda, they're perfectly acceptable.
@Storm1752 Yeah Bannon's ideas are so completely off the wall that CNBC contributor is saying almost the same thing.
And here is what is said of Yan the scientist formerly from China by your left leaning Vox "Yan has a prolific and solid publication record on infectious diseases." So why question and doubt that expertise now? I want a scientist to answer that one.
I never said YT was a disinformation channel. Where did you get that idea? The channel that gave the information has no other disinformation that I have detected and is not even about covid. I will say this and that's it - other people in other countries do not give two figs about the health and well being of this nation and would like to see us all destroyed and our nation in ruins. Look at your choice when you vote. Who appears to be concerned about possible threats from abroad? Who appears to be more in tune with what is really happening? It's not just a virus from bats. Not all Republicans are giving best Covid advice, I will say that, not Dems either. Make your best covid choice in response to pandemic and make an informed choice when it comes to voting as far as who is best prepared to protect the nation from outside threats!
@Flowerwall I know you didn't say YT is a "disinformation channel," you said it wasn't, which is obvious but irrelevant, because along with verifiable facts, YT inescapably contains a lot of disinformation; this is equally obvious.
Yan's paper claiming Chine intentionally engineered covid-19 and released it, is not peer-reviewed, is regarded as seriously flawed by the scientific community and therefore not accepted as valid. These same scientists think it is highly unlikely, but not impossible, covid-19 originated in a lab.
Steve Bannon is a fierce enemy of the Chinese Communist Party, with justification. He made common cause with wealthy (and apparently corrupt) Chinese dissidents, and apparently thinks this is one way he can do enough damage to the CCP's reputation to seriously threaten it's legitimacy and grip on power. Questionable, but that's his motive. Plus to bolster Trump's anti-China rhetoric.
Why did Yan agree to publicize such a shoddy piece of pseudo-science, given her respected status? One reason, to flee Hong Kong, where the CCP was cracking down on dissidents, and since Bannon and the other dissidents offered transportation to a safe refuge, plus a platform to criticize the CCP, she compromised her scientific integrity by aligning her unsubstantiated (but not outright disproven) hypotheses to Bannons' already stated, but dubious, assertions.
Why is Biden pressing the Chinese for greater cooperation and transparency? Because it would be very helpful to know for sure the virus' origin, mainly to broaden and deepen our knowledge of it and other coronaviruses so we can better deal with them in the future.
BUT it is not justified to say anything about the subject is "highly probable."
This entire matter points out once again how easily and quickly misinformation, "fake news," spreads if the fervent desire exists for it to be true.
@Storm1752 You sound like you have it all figured out. Too good. So you yourself are a scientist? You work in the scientific community?
The problem is, I don't know the scientific name for it, but this virus is too good at being transmissible among humans to have NOT been manipulated in a lab. It doesn't follow the natural course of how human to human transmission evolves. It's also closely related to viruses that were collected in the wild to study in the lab. One of these highly respected people in the field pinpointed how certain aspects of the virus could be replicated to contain certain features and it would not be traceable, yet people have no problem saying there is no marker in the virus, no "proof". Also these types of viruses were collected, it is very clearly documented, in order to study how the viruses work. For "prevention" it was said. I know there have been accusations leveled on both sides, as well. Accusations can fly all around and we may never know the final truth, but what is the best way to proceed now? Should we be cautious and concerned about outside issues that could arise and be brought in to the nation? Or should we proceed as though we just had a bad bug jump to humans?
It's a self-inflicted wound. They voted for the guy who promised it was going to vanish, they believed his lies about not only Covid but about basically everything in the world. They chose an alternate vision of reality where they are the victims and he was their savior. They chose to believe the far right voices who said mask mandates and vaccinations are a means of social control, not medicine. And they refused to hear anything to the contrary. Now they really are the victims of their own choices.
According to Snopes, Tyson made the statement but did not provide a source.
Regardless of the actual ratio, I don't doubt that antivaxers are lopsided on the Republican side, and the unvaccinated are dying at much higher rates. Karma.
While it seems logical.....verify those numbers please !

Thanks for asking. Twitter, of course, does not lend itself to full citations.
I derived the number from published COVID-19 death rates of unvaccinated people (about 1,000 per day). And from the polls that show 25% of Republican voters are unvaccinated, versus 5% of Democrats.

I don’t know. I’ve seen a lot of vaccinated people die in our hospital, but Biden still has a an approval rate in the 30% range.
Don’t trust the memes.
I don't believe you. Care to name the hospital, and cite real, verifiable statistics?
I didn't think so.
And WHAT does that have to do with Biden, even if his approval rating WAS 30%, which it isn't.
@Storm1752
You don’t have to believe me.
I’d recommend that you do some research on the FDA’s funding before getting too excited about your vaccine.
It’s comical that you all cry about the rich, but you guys are actively in lockstep in making them richer.
Uneducated followers are comical. Scary in the big picture, but always funny to listen to or read the things they type.
@CourtJester When you say Biden's approval rating is 30%, which is obviously false, then I know you're making things up. I asked you for the name of the hospital, and proof (numbers I can verify) "a lot" of vaccinated people have died there.. Nothing. Instead you bring up the FDA's funding, as if that has anything to do with the efficacy of the vaccine. It doesn't. It's totally irrelevant.
You're worse than uneducated, you're miseducated and/or undereducated. You're believing "fake facts" designed to mislead you, instead of the obvious facts. After the vaccine became available, almost all of the people who got and are getting sick, and dying, are unvaccinated. That's the relevant fact. And your LIE that "a lot" of vaccinated people died or are dying in "your" hospital is immoral nonsense, and you know it.
@Storm1752 shit. With the way liberal lie and ‘cancel’ people; there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell that I’d make my hospital public knowledge. Are you freaken high?
And it happens. Fat people, and old folks with comorbidities tend to fall out regardless of the vaccine. The vaccine doesn’t help as much as CNN tells you.
See…. [google.com]
It must be group think morning. Had a similar thought as I logged onto the site.
No fucks left to give for the ignorant and stupid.
You would think that it's the stupid removing themselves from the gene pool. I feel for those innocently caught up in this epidemic but don't have a problem with those who are so stupid that they avoid a vaccine dying because of it.
I feel bad for their children who don't have a say in things, whether they're dying or losing family members. Regardless of politics, that's something I don't wish on anyone.
