Your trumpian co-worker, sounds like he is lost and has slipped too far down the rabbit hole to claw his way out. Think your work environment will be less maddening when he is gone. A friend (computer programmer with his PHD in Physics from Stanford) has transitioned away from two different companies when the companies he worked for were outsourced over seas.

Having covid is not an effective protective method to not become infected again so I'd say there is a good chance your trumpster will have another go at covid. Rather sure you already know that.

We had one of those antivaxers (a teacher) at our school but she resigned months ago rather then get the shot or get a weekly covid test. Think she's now working at a convince store somewhere. Two other trumpians were let go at the end of last year and we have only one left (the school secretary) who a week ago suddenly disappeared she is supposed to be back next week.

Ectopic pregnancy. A local theocrat tried to push her "personhood" law. After asking a YMCA friend (medical doctor) what he thought of the personhood law (Measure #1) he said it was terrible. He and other physicians in his clinic hired a lawyer to interpret the law and If a woman were to present with an ectopic pregnancy, all he could do was to tell her there was no treatment and to tell her to call your loved ones, and watch her die. So much for right to life. I was active in making sure Measure #1 failed. Like you I was (and when the need rises, am) also very vocal in correcting the lies or mistakes of anti-women's right to keep their own lifer. They really bother me.

Life is not easy and there is much one has to put up with just to be here. Personally, I am trying to get along with people I have no idea what their politics are or is. I have tried to assure myself that I do not care what they are as long as they treat me well. I shop at a market that I have a feeling is republican in view. But they treat me well, always ask how I am doing and try to be helpful and courteous.They have helped me many times and I drive out of my way to go there. I do so because they are good people in their interactions with me and others.
I listen to the news and it is hard not to see others that have different views than I as being total asswipes, I wish they did not have the power in politics that they have. But for me that is what is happening in another place with people I do not know. If there is a civil war, it is going to be a mess as who will be shooting at who? How do we find the enemy when we do not know who they are or where they are? Until this time I will try to get along with my neighbor, if shooting starts then the rules change and I have no idea what I will do.
You are in a situation that seems like it is going to disintegrate no matter what happens. My first question would be what is the possibility of going into business by yourself? Companies know who you are and what you are capable of. Of course, I would not recommend that as all of a sudden your days will get short in time not spent working, and the work load increases even though the pay may not.
