Pope accepts Paris Archbishop's resignation. "Gossip" played a role. According to the , he thought the man, who admitted to "minor" sexual sins, could still govern effectively. (That makes me laugh). The Poop added that it wasn't based on "truth, but on hypocrisy." I wonder, does the Poop see his irony in hypocrisy amongst the catholic church?
Noβ¦..after all isnβt ignorance an essential with these inhuman monsters?
This got me to wondering if the clergy in the Catholic Church is increasing or decreasing.
Naturally, it is increasing in developing countries but decreasing in Europe. "While the number of Catholic priests has grown overall, Europe has seen a consistent decrease in clergy, where the number of faithful per priest grew to more than 3,245-to-1. For the seventh year in a row, the number of religious brothers and sisters has declined everywhere, with Africa as the only exception. Religious sisters experienced the sharpest decline, losing 11,562 members." We need to remember the 'America's include S. America.
A significant number of religious "vocations" are in former iron curtain countries. At least this was the case in the '80s which come to think of it was when the USSR was still in business.
@Theresa_N Poland is especially catholic. Poland was the only Warsaw pact country that had priests, or any religious figures, in the military.
@Theresa_N When we visited Vietnam there were a large number of Catholics there (left over from the French occupation). However, the communist government maintains a strict control over the church. That said the church has fostered a big split in families.
Even Dante admitted hell was full of bishops and popes.
How does he know?
Good point.
