There’s probably only one person on the planet whose ego gets a bigger woodie over such an “award!”

There was a time in US history when CEOs did not seek public attention (some still don’t) but that all changed with the so-called celebrity CEO. From Jack Welch to Lee Iacocca to Steve Jobs to Jeff Bezos and Elon musk, four unknown reasons, our society fawns over these egotistical jerks as if we needed them. Well, we really don’t, and the sooner we realize that the better off we’ll be!

The world doesn’t need assholes in order to grow and improve. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. In his excellent book “The No Asshole Rule: Building a Civilized Workplace and Surviving One That Isn’t,” management science professor and author Robert I. Sutton observes,
“Winning is a wonderful thing if you can help and respect others along the way. But if you stomp on others as you climb the ladder and treat them like losers once you reach the top, my opinion is that you debase your own humanity and undermine your team or organization.”

Sutton summarizes his research with the following statement that most of us probably have said at one time or another, “Life is too short to put up with assholes.”
