Bangladesh was once considered a lost cause. Things have changed markedly. To me this proves we need to help countries learn take care of themselves instead of simply repatriating them here. [npr.org]
That is a world wide problem. Rather than put in the hard work (and often at great personal risk) to improve their countries, they just run to developed countries and leave those who stay to suffer.
And we welcome them with unquestioning open arms. Most agree we should not be the world's policeman but too many think it's alright to be the world's social worker.
