Every now and then I remember I had not wore a wristwatch in at least 4 years. And last time I decided to correct the issue I noticed that fashion dictated for people walking around with hubcaps and sattelite dishes on their wrists. I am Retired, I manage to not being late unless I want to. No wristwatch needed I also noticed.
Haven't worn one since the mid 70's.
1976 for me. I don't have a clock in the house, the one in the car has never been set, I don't listen to the radio or watch TV. Nor am I late for meetings, and people often ask me for the time, I am usually right within a few minutes.
Even better than not having a wristwatch is not owning an alarm clock either. I wake up naturally, still at the crack of dawn from a life as a builder but no longer do I have that obnoxious racket going off in my ear in the morning.
No job. . No alarm clock, for emergencies all cellphones have alarm.
I have not worn a watch since the 80's. Always on time for work, appointments and dates. There is a clock in the car and everywhere one goes. Now everyone has a phone - if I need to know the time I ask someone with a phone. LOL
Like many of my generation I have worn a watch since high school. I have a cell phone, but if I don’t put on watch my wrist feels so wrong.
I am a smaller guy and it is hard to find a watch they is small enough and does not look plain silly on my wrist. I have a nice old Omega Men’s watch that my father gave me long ago as my dress watch. For every day I have a Casio MQ-24 - looks decent but cheap- if it gets lost or smashed it is not a big deal. Another $10 and you get yourself a new one.
The watch tells time. That is all. No messaging, beeping, alarms. Many folks love their iWatch and kin and I have been tempted... if I exercised more I would change my mind.
It's a different way of living, one I like to call freedom/
I haven't worn a watch since I retired. And I know what you mean about those great big things that seem in fashion now. I don't care for them.
