Our governments should never be able to force anyone to carry a pregnancy against their will. Yet, the leadership of the state legislature here in Florida is fast tracking an abortion ban bill. Florida House Bill 5 (HB 5) and Senate Bill 146 (SB 146), if passed, will criminalize doctors who offer abortion care to patients with pregnancies past 15 weeks. This effort by Florida lawmakers is a part of a coordinated attack as the U.S. Supreme Court has made it clear that our constitutional right to abortion is at greater risk than ever before.
Today, Thursday, January 27, the House Health Care Appropriations Subcommittee will hear HB 5.
Remember, abortion is just the first step. Then comes outlawing contraception.
And next? Womens prisons used as breeding farms? One country where I was stationed years ago had the policy that women in prison could cut their sentence in half by working off time in government-run bordellos. (And that, btw, was in a muslim country.)
@mischi I don't suppose you'd be willing to reveal what country that was. OK if not. Just curious.
DeathSantis ans Company pandering to the Cristian Right causing suffering to the rest of us. Yep, no surprise.
Just looking at their decisions and their policies, one can easily conclude they're trying to maximize the number of births AND the number of deaths. Go figure.
