Two comedians who summarize the news with a twist of humor are Stephen Colbert and Bill Maher. I used to watch Rachel Maddow....but she's just too....factual....and it's hard to laugh with her reports...Bill and Stephen? Much easier. So enjoy!
News flash, Rachel Maddow is not a comedian.
You obviously took what I wrote the wrong way. She's good....just factual...as in 'fact-based".
@Robecology Read well what you post, you start by mentioning two comedians, and then you claimed to have stopped watching her because she's factual and not funny. She's a reporter, reporters must and should report facts, unless of course you work for faux news, oan and newsmax, and facts are facts, sometimes facts may be funny but most of the time they aren't. I obviously didn't take your unfunny posting the "wrong way," quite the opposite.
I never thought Colbert was humorous, so I vote for Maher.
Maddow is boring at best.
I thought this image was a photo shop but it is not.
Kinda' like a Norman Bates thing that Donald has going.
I enjoy watching the factual news (Rachel Maddow for example) and then the late night comedians adding humor to it so I can sleep. I like Stephen Colbert and Seth Meyers.
I used to watch Bill Maher, but I find him to be insulting more than funny. For example in the clip posted above, he made fun of people who hold their breath for photos without masks... I do that every day. I am photographed outdoors with recent travelers and I sure as heck hold my breath while I'm closer than 6 feet.
Oh come on. As America's favourite 30 million dollar salaried Russiagator, Rachel Maddow can bring on a chuckle, don't you think?
Did you spell trump wrong?
An Aussie trumptard, amazing!
@Mofo1953 you're joking. Trump fascism is all yours. All 75 million of you. You don't get irony do you, or what Russiagate is -- the contempt of the real Left in America against the phony mainstream media peddling this stuff while ignoring the endemic corruption in America that keeps two corrupt parties in power to disenfranchise Americans. Ms Maddow is mockingly referred to by the Left as America's favourite Russiagator in a network that belongs to the corporate democratic party. Happy to educate you on this.
Not an Aussie Trumptard, but an Aussie well studied in the appalling class and power structure of the farce called America.
@David1955 ha ha ha, your puny insignificant and irrelevant island would be speaking Japanese now had it not been saved by those who you ungratefully call a farce, so I suggest you go suck some hashtag trump dick before you dare to criticize a country that may have flaws, but is still a democracy not a "Voluntary Commonwealth who still adores monarchs" so I can certainly understand your envy and jealousy, go and study well history and who saved you from eating sushi everyday. Now say arigato and fuck off!
@Mofo1953 personal abuse. The calling card of the small mind. History. I taught history and know it better than you, including all the wars your military industrial complex has dragged us into since 1945. I protested against your criminal Vietnam war in 1970. Two years later I was lucky not to be conscripted to fight in it. I wouldn't have. Who do you think you are talking to? Enjoy your 'democracy' until 2024. What will your excuse be then? At least we know how to conduct a free and fair election, with all parties accepting the outcome. And whom are you quoting in that absurd quote ' Voluntary Commonwealth who still adores monarchs" ? (And it should be 'which' not 'who'.) Relative pronouns aside, in direct speech you don't quote yourself. And we are continent. I'm still educating you, it seems.
@David1955 how typical of cowards to claim they'd been insulted after an ungrateful insult to millions of people, and I still didn't hear a thank you for saving your sorry asses from speaking Japanese, conveniently left out from your imbecilic long winded response, educate yourself by learning history, dumbass, your saviors did not drag you to the second world war, there was this thing called Pearl Harbor, so negate or ignore history all you want, typical of ingrates and cowards, now say thank you instead of Domo Arigato, you should know why by now. And for your information I was not quoting myself you asshole, it was a mockery of your political status, in itself ridiculous but that's what your puny island is.
@Mofo1953 I didn't say I was insulted. Takes a lot more than the likes of you to offend me. Thanks for the clarification of your quote, though. You confirmed that the quote was meaningless, and poor grammar. Clearly the British Commonwealth concept is beyond you. And I said since 1945 not pre 1945, if you tried reading, referring to Vietnam, Iraq Afghanistan and so on. I could give you a summary of the history of the US Australian alliance from 1942 but why bother. You frothy self-righteous American types aren't worth it.
@David1955 I know what you wrote dumbass, you forgot Korea, but at least your ridiculous Commonwealth showed gratitude by sending troops to those places because they felt obligated, nobody put a gun on the heads of all other countries who participated, they did so out of their own accord, look it up so called history expert, so much for your imbecilic opinion, yet you personally still fail to thank us yanks, who saved your pathetic island from being a Japanese possession. Figures.
Obama did wear that tan linen suit in August that time.
HORROR!
I was at the point with trump in the WH I got my real news from the late nights comedians.
Remember in August 2017 when the dust up with N. Korea's kim was happening? Here's a classic:
I just don't find most of his stuff the slightest bit funny.
This was funny. Mitch just avoiding eye contact when Jon Stewart was pushing the 9/11 Heroes Act.
Thank you! I like Jon Stewart but can't stand Bill Maher. I find anyone who speaks in sarcasm to be suspicious, lol.
@LovinLarge Jon Stewart said that Trump running for president was gawds gift to comedy. I did not think it was funny when he said it and it got less funny over time.
An old post (July 23, 2019)...but point taken.
@MyTVC15 My take is that he meant Trump provided new comedic material, what's yours? Was it the god part or the Trump part that bothered you? I have to admit I'm surprised at the risks comedians take in criticizing politicians because surely that statement alone would offend all Trumpers.
@MyTVC15 Well, it was funny until the Illiterate droolers actually elected the orange slime mold.
@LovinLarge I did not think that there was anything funny about Trump running for president. I knew he was a conman and a racist. I do not know how Stewart found that to be funny.
@MyTVC15 All I can figure is that he didn't take Trump's desire for the presidency seriously and we all know how that turned out. Much more scary than funny, I agree 100%.
I watch Bill every week but I still watch Rachel. She is a political commentator while Bill is a comedian and political activist.
I loved Rachel when she was on Air America radio.
And Al Franken was on there.
Totally agree, especially Bill! He doesn't seem to be plagued with confirmation bias.
Rachel Maddow is a political commentator, not a comedian.
Let me put it this way....I know what you're saying...but the comedians make the news more palatable
And if you're still on this page; here's a clip of the "overtime" session;
And while you're at it....Bill has an excellent POV on COVID; watch;
