Which came first, the chicken or the egg?

This age old question has perplexed mankind since evolution became a thing but that's much too simplistic a framework on which to hang any real answer. First we must define a chicken from a not-chicken then we need to determine at what point in the evolution of the species did a not-chicken go from being a not-chicken into being a chicken then we need to determine at what point did that very first chicken lay that very first chicken egg. In this case, the chicken came first.

OR

Maybe the first viable chicken egg was laid by a not-chicken and it was that one specific egg that hatched the first chicken, the embryo within being the first not-chicken to have taken that final evolutionary step from not-chicken into chicken. In this case, the egg came first.

To determine a conclusive answer to this question we then need to take both of these scenarios into consideration, weigh each theory against the other then ask ourselves; "Does anyone actually care about this shit?" then flip a coin and let fate decide it.

Next week, I'll answer the question "What is the meaning of life?" Hint: it's not 42.

And, if only one chicken come from one non-chicken egg, would that mean the chicken would have to reproduce with a non-chicken to have a hybrid to pass its chick genetic chicken dna to a second generation of chickens that are only hybrid?

Was the chicken, a chicken, before it crossed the road?

If I could just add my 2 cents worth for your next article. A meaning for life can be found in most dictionaries. Here is an example of one I searched.: the condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity for growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change

The egg came first and the answer to next weeks question is 43.

That is not the crux of the question.

There is an answer, and I know what it is. I'll give you all a chance to come up with the answer, and, more importantly, the reason for the answer, on your own before I post it.

A hint: The most important question you need to answer to find out which came first is, is a chicken egg what comes out of a chicken or what a chicken comes out of.

As for the meaning of life: there is none; we are an unfortunate accident.

Finally……someone has “cracked” the egg mystery!?! 🤨

I see what you did there.

An animal that was almost a chicken laid an egg that eventually hatched the first chicken.

I completely agree. That's what the second scenario proposes.

The egg came first. Wasn't that easy?

So you ascribe to the second theory, that a not-chicken laid the first chicken egg. I tend to agree and believe the first chicken came from a next generation embryo laid by a not-chicken. The only problem with your answer is that it contains about as much thought as "My ass itches." Maybe work on that.

I'd say the question contains as much thought as "My ass itches."

Which came first? Neither (if referencing chicken eggs and chickens.).

Single celled organisms created more single-celled organisms. Multicellular organisms developed along with sex, and that's when the multicellular organisms started alternating with single cells. You knew all that but asked a bogus question anyway.
