Despite my comment about speed it is still a good graphic.
Most narcissists are haunted by doubt, and are therefore driven to keep proving themselves, because no level of achievement is ever enough to squash that little nagging feeling, that they are really just a small person after all. So it is no surprise that all this comes just after Putin was ill, there was an economic dip in Russia, and some senior Russians were asking questions if the Putin was still up to it.
What is worse of course, is that, because nothing is ever enough to silence that inner nag, every new venture for the narcissist has to be bigger, better, grander, and more risky than the last. So that even if he were to succeed in Ukraine, the next venture would have to be even more silly, until at last he goes too far and crashes and burns. But it is the collateral damage that matters.
I think it also comes down to the fact that our level of frustration is an exact correlation with narcissism. He is one frustrated bastard. No relationship with his daughters and his wife left him.
It's braver to think. Love can take many forms including a love for power and oneself.
Violence is meant to be a response to weakness - not good one but a response.
The trick is to get in before the violence happens by an even faster method . the response to it must be measured, logical, fair and lasting. that means pre planning - before the violence is even threatened .
There has been some indication of speed of sanctions but it is not yet fast or future resilient enough.
