As a group, they feel if they go from having 100% control of everything, to only having 75%, they feel persecuted; a bunch of sore winners/loosers.
In the US , christians are not being persecuted. They are being denied the ability to run roughshod over anyone who doesn't agree with their narrow minded, ass backwards, bronze age, sheep herding desert death cult.
I'm pretty sure if anyone was denied any service at all for any reason for being a Christian in this country we would never hear the end of it.

Actually in islamic countries they are still being killed. Being pro-human, I think that is deplorable.
@DavidLaDeau yes but not in the United States as the question states, but if you want to examine Islamic countries they are also killing atheist, Buddhist, and jews
And yes I also believe that it is despicable for anyone to kill someone because of religious beliefs
