Wrote this while having my morning coffee.
Invisible
by Matt Channing
A quiet Sunday evening
After church but not quite supper
He's up there in his bedroom
Doing what boys do
You do your best to keep him safe from sin
And cultivate the man within
And not make him invisible
You stuck your head into the room
To say it's time for dinner
You saw him in the makeup
And punched her in the face
You stood in anger at the door
Said, "You don't live here anymore"
To keep the girl invisible
It's been near a year now
And still you haven't spoken
She has a job at Safeway
And a special friend
Is there a heart that's beating there?
Or just a slab behind that cross you wear?
Is it just invisible?
All those sacred principles
You think make you invincible
Just make your child invisible
Keep your love invisible
Keep your love invisible? Is that what you meant to write?
