Having worked Construction for over 25+years, I have to say that the Eyelanders have it hands up. Ya Man, Don't Worry, Be Happy. Me no da Chi Chi Man.

My favorite is british, but not like cockney. The classy British lol. Then scottish, irish, welsh, Russian

I frequently talk in an Irish or Russian accent...sometimes without even meaning to. It just starts coming out and I cannae stop

Natasha!

Ha. No one said Texan. Figures

All accents are interesting and gain my attention immediately. I don't have a favorite, but I can say that some are damned difficult to understand.

I think Australian, and then British, followed by Scottish, maybe even Spanish.

Really? Australian? That is flattering, thank you. You should give the New Zealanders a shout out too 🙂

@Donotbelieve Admittedly, they do have the All Blacks so respect for that. I also love the slight Scottish thing about the Kiwis - their use of the word "wee". As in, if we pause for a wee moment etc. Oh, they are delightful. And they fight as hard as Australians do, so there's that.

Yes...Australian and New Zealand are my #2 &3#....sexy!

I've moved to Manchester. I confess I find the local accent... not attractive. If you've ever watched Shameless or Ideal or heard a member of Oasis speak, you'll get the picture.
Edinburgh Scots is nice. As is Irish, just not Northern Irish. And Bjork's mixture of Icelandic and Cockney is just too cute for words.
And for some reason, Yolandi Visser's staccato obscenity laden high pitched Afrikaans rap just does it for me. Those elements should NOT work, but...
PS I have an Australian accent that had been rounded out by over a decade of living in the UK... drops voice an octave ladies...

Yolandi!!! Zef side!

Russian, Asian

Well, there's variance in Scottish accents; I find the Edinburgh accent quite attractive, but Glaswegian is borderline horrific. Same with Irish in a way; the Dublin area accent is very easy on the ears. Northern Irish? Not so much?

As far as non-British accents are concerned, I'll tend to go for Dutch and Scandinavian; they speak English really well, and their accent has quite a singsong lilt to it. Extremely pleasant.

Me and my borderline horrific accent are devastated !!!But each to his own !

Don't ruin my buzz with specifics..........😉

@AzVixen52 Specifics and Annoying Pedantry are my middle names.

@JosephHarrison Alas

@Jaydee123 I sincerely apologise to all the people of Glasgow.

Fortunately what welose with borderline horrifics , we make up with in terms of humour ! You are forgiven !!!How magnanimous of moi !!!

@Jaydee123 Having listened to both Billy Connolly and Frankie Boyle, I can agree with that wholeheartedly.

@JosephHarrison Some Glasgow area accents can be genuinely horrific, like nails down a blackboard. There are softer accents in the area though as not everyone in Glasgow talks like a machine gun, has that irritating nasal whine or lurches between lack of consonants or over pronunciation. There's also the 'code switching' that some folk do (myself included) where we can seamlessly move between the local patois (or patter) and a more intelligible speech.

I am drawn to a French accent. I think the main reason is that I'm particularly drawn to the time period of the lost generation. But hey, I'd settle for something different such as Australian. My unfortunate "go to" is dark and mysterious and it has caused life complications LOL

My first serious bf in High School was Cuban. Loved his accent.

I picked a guy up a few days ago with an accent so thick it was hard to understand him. I knew it was Scottish but for some reason I said Irish, and he said, "at least you didn't say English!" Ha. He was a character, very talkative, rough and tumble redhead. Took him to a bar from his RV in Corpus Christi for a "wee bit'a fun." lol

I get to hear accents from all over, and different languages, one of the fun parts of my job. A young Brit, Ausie or Scotch gal makes me a little crazy. lol

3

My favorite accent is South African

I could write a book here from the other side of the fence. I am the one with the accent. I have been working really ( I mean really ) hard to shake it off. My biggest accomplishment is that an aqcuintance thought (when we met) that I was ridiculously being funny by pretending of having been born somewhere else. She really thought I was yanking her chain !!!!! So, yeah I am getting where I want to be and before I die, my goal is that no one will ever ask me again "Where are you from?"....

I say embrace your accent! I find most accents charming.

@AzVixen52 I hear you but getting rid of it feels more challenging and compelling to me

3

Scottish for me as well! I’m also a huge fan red hair🙂

3

Anything strange to this Texas gal?

3

I’m kinda partial to the SoCal accent.

@Millie lol yeah that’s what everyone says

3

Welch and Danish and Dutch and Norwegian. Having red hair has only recently been a joy. Love me the dark haired, smoldering dark eyes black Irish, and blondes with ice blue eyes and mahagony brown skinned man from Africa. I knew a man from Gold Coast who had golden eyes. in that dark face. Oh, good grief, don't get me started.

Like, @Knd502, I love all accents. And gingers are super hot!

3

Was born in Britain and still retain my accent despite 20 years here. I am reminded of a beautiful Irish woman I knew, who could swear and cuss with such eloquence and erudition. It would sound to me like she was reading Ulysses by James Joyce aloud.
Doesn’t this read like a Fish Called Wanda moment
I have always enjoyed Scandinavians speaking English, lived in Sweden for several years.
South African accents can sound very clipped and nice too

3

South African. Hands down the sexiest male accent on earth. My first love was South African and... yea

3

och aye,
but for me it is an Irish accent on a girl. That is my number one favourite.

3

In order: Irish/Nothern Irish, British, Australian, New Zealand, French, South African, Boston, US north east from Maryland to Maine. Chicago.

Thanks for the Australian shout out - good to see you got the New Zealanders in there too.

Spanish

I love the New Zealand accent, there's something very pleasing about the upwards intonation at the end of each sentence that feels reassuring and can be really quite sexy.

An upper class English accent though (I'm thinking Joanna Lumley here) can be very soothing. I could listen to Joanna Lumley read a telephone directory to me and be in heaven (does anyone even remember telephone directories?)

2

French is the sexiest accent in my opinion but then I have had several French girl friends and my wife is French Canadian. Go with what you love. 😀

2

I’m a lover of accents in general, but my favorite (I’ll say categories because they’re broad) are sub-Saharan African and Indian, as in the subcontinent.
