It's more like FuckFuckNo.
DuckDuckGo Sells Private Search Information of Users to Microsoft
According to one data supply research guy:
If you download the current version of the DuckDuckGo browser for iOS/Android, & if you hope this browser actually stops data transfers to super common advertising subsidiaries owned by a company like Microsoft... well too bad, the browser has a secret allow data flow list
Even if you are not on twitter, you can still read the thread here:
Please identify the kind of information they are selling.
Have you given it to them?
Please identify the ways it’s used to harm you?
You haven't read the thread.
@yvilletom Ah, I see. I suggest that you download a free ad blocker like this one.
[adblockplus.org]
. . . a better alternative :
Have you done a practical test of it?
@FrayedBear
a) FK google
b) the Startpage link is a website**, accessible from ANY browser. I see NO good reason for anyone to install any "app"
@FearlessFly I've just added your startpage app to my phone & now after about thirty minutes use the ads are pouring in. . . Even in the middle of checking settings!
Google has obviously contaminated it?
What logic is there in adding it to my browser DuckDuckGo which it claims is already contaminated or Chrome which is Google's anyway???
@FearlessFly read the user reviews:
[play.google.com]
@FrayedBear I NEVER see adds
@FrayedBear . . . reviews ?
I'm not one of those sheeple.
@FearlessFly I've also presented you with the evidence but you choose to ignore it. Your adblock & unlock links are no good for someone using Android on a phone & not one of the listed browsers..
Incidentally how large is your computer? Do you put it in your shirt pocket? Are you able to use it in 90%+ of places that you go?
Maybe you're not a sheeple - just the paranoid elephant in the room.
@FrayedBear "as of 2022, uBlock Origin’s extension is available for several of the most widely used browsers, including: Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Opera, Firefox and all Safari releases prior to 13. "
. . . just because I'm 'paranoid' doesn't mean they are NOT out to get me
@FearlessFly I have ceased to use "Chrome, Chromium, Edge, Opera, Firefox and all Safari releases prior to 13. " I get no adverts on DuckDuckGo or Brave - they don't need add ons.
As for paranoia I quite sgree but seriously if they do get you "what have they actually got?"
If the browser service (or e-mail service) is totally free you can bet that someone is selling your information. This is done because they have to have money to give you the service to start with. From that point comes the constant "read me" texts about how they do not sell your info but some of it is shared, or the other one that says they have a right to sell it because you are using their service.
Makes me wonder how THIS site is run...
@Ryo1 I am kinda a privacy 'freak'.
I READ all the Privacy Policy and TOS of websites i have logins for, and because most website policies suck I have only a few 'login's.
This sites policies are far-and-away the BEST I have ever seen.
@FearlessFly Good to know.
