“Pay a chick off?” What century is this?

We sometimes forget that many of the so-called liberal decisions were made by a Supreme Court led by Republican chief justices, appointed by Republicans. When the Supreme Court makes decisions that expand individual liberties and rights, is this not a good thing for all Americans?

The right to privacy is not explicit in the Constitution, but is a principal embraced by both liberals and conservatives. The right to privacy is foundational to protecting each of us from the powers of the state, whether wielded by liberal or conservative political leaders. This week’s decision to reverse Roe v. Wade weakens the privacy rights in doctor-patient confidentiality. It allows states to use the resources at their disposal to literally reach inside a woman’s body and take control of that which the state deems is theirs.

As I would not want to live in a country where a communist government used the resources of the state to oppress our individuality, neither would I want to live in a nation where religiously motivated conservatives use the same state resources for their own political agendas.

@CourtJester Seriously? Do you honestly believe that most people have the ability and the resources to uproot themselves from their family and their community, and just go to some state that allows abortion, based on that topic alone? Do we really prefer to rely on 50 individual states to come up with their own definitions?

@CourtJester If that’s all it is, perhaps a critical mass of blue state residents should relocate to red states, thereby making all states purple!

A family moved from California to Jasper, Alabama and they had a mysterious house fire and flattened vehicles tires. It’s under investigation, but not all areas are very tolerant of stupidity.
