Should the supreme court of the USA remove the right to bare arms?
After all, it is only an amendment.
No. A ban on military grade weapons, automatics and numerous round clips, as Sen Joe Biden passed, would do. There is a need for people to protect themselves so we should have that ability. We don't need weapons of war to "protect" ourselves from a govt with nukes, however. The very suggestion puts Dems behind the 8-ball in elections (even though no candidate is going to promote such an idea).
Kick off two efforts to amend the constitution:
Neither issue belongs with the courts.
In the interest of the safety of Americans of course they should, but in fact they just expanded 2A to make it easier to carry in public. They took gun control away from the states right before giving the states the right to control the insides of our bodies. They are not applying the law, they are imposing their personal beliefs upon us.
As a mature student just before Covid, I was studying American politics. (Being an old smart arse I got 100%) We used Roe v Wade as a keystone of US laws that could not be changed, as the Supreme Court is there to protect the Constitution. Thus, it would be unconstitutional for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade.
What you really need is a Liberal Socialist Party of America to light the way to freedom by educating the people that Socialism is actually a good thing.
@Sofabeast I returned to US in 2006 and only then really became interested in American politics. I'm not sure why we're so entrenched in a two party system. Depending on how much longer we have until climate change closes in on us, I do believe that eventually a third party will become a viable option presuming we are not now witnessing the fall of the American empire or possibly the beginning of WWIII.
I read recently that our younger generations have a more favorable take on socialism than their elders. I question the motives of anyone who opposes a system that will serve the most people rather than the elite. We have about 800 billionaires and more than 20 million millionaires in the US and yet we have people including children dying from poverty.
So I am very much on board with your idea and yet for now we are heading in the opposite direction. I no longer have control over the insides of my own body. I am still in shock and it looks like things are going to get worse before they get better.
I thank you for your interest in my country and welcome all input. We need all the help we can get!
