Interesting encounter at the local senior center during lunch. The TV was on with the Jan. 6 hearing. Nobody but me appeared to be watching, which was not surprising, since my city is very much made up of Repubs and conservative Christians. A guy walked by and saw me watching the TV, shook his head and said, regarding the hearings, " Give it up".. I asked him why he felt that way, and he said" Because it's all over, it happened long ago". I told him that I had to disagree, because if there are no consequences for what happened, it will happen again". Of course, he had no answer for that, and I have to agree with him that no consequences are likely to happen out of the hearings for Trump or the Repubs in congress who were in on the insurrection and the coup plot. But that doesn't mean the hearings shouldn't happen, as these Trump supporters have an awful short memory of all the hearings that were held on something way less important, the Bengazi hearings that were all about hurting Hillary Clinton, not that I ever liked her before that or that she ever deserved to be prez. If nothing else, the Dems deserve their chance to get fairness regarding having hearings on something way more important and damaging than Bengazi ever was to this country..
