Another semi-bright idea of mine: I wish we could come up with a way to recognize each other in public, although not recognizable enough to let them target us. I hate to say it but I'm afraid that's what it's going to come to. Some of you are going to have to stay in the closet in order to keep your jobs, etc. I am too old and cranky to hide who I am. I am not afraid of anyone or anything and I am fully prepared to go down with the ship, if that's what it comes to. No way I am tolerating a Christofascist theocracy.

Anyway, I wish there was a way we could safely recognize each other in public, edpecially atheists because I'm so conceited that I prefer people who are like me!

I used to buy pins and earrings and such from Evolve Fish, but they are all in my jewelry box somewhere, I don't actually wear them anymore, but I should. Now they have things like waterbottles, etc. I used to wear a pin that said "American Freethinker" or some such message. Check out all the merchandise, even just for ideas.

Of course you can get custom design items from Cafe Press too.

I see people with tattoos, ties, all kinds of ways to show your beliefs (or lack thereof) loud and proud.

11 years ago, while attending my daughter's wedding rehearsal, in Washington state, the officiant came over to me and said "You're Zephyr, aren't you!" I only used that alias on the old Spiritual Humanism discussion forum, so I looked at him in surprise and said, "Yes I am! How do you know that?" He showed me his "Happy Humanist" tattoo on his forearm, haha! Apparently he was also a reader/contributor on that forum and somehow guessed who I was! Maybe because I had posted about my move from Seattle to Kauai, some years before that. I was glad to have a kindred spirit performing my daughter's wedding!

So somehow we sometimes can figure it out, without holding up a sign! 🙂

Thanks very much Julie, I will check out those websites for sure!

I believe there is an American Athists symbol. Alternately, CFI may have a pin.

Thanks, I think it's that big red "A". I should get one of those except it always reminds me of when I commented on someone's once and she said in a condescending manner, "no, agnostic actually". I think I will get one in order to enjoy all the snubs I get when I tell people what it stands for.

@LovinLarge I think that she may have been a tiny minority, don't let her put you off.

@Fernapple I can still hear her words in my head, but thanks for the encouragement I am going to get one and wear it in a prominent place everywhere I go!
