Part of the reason we are facing a climate crisis, species extinction and a toxic environment is that we are told by religious leaders that the world is ours to destroy at our pleasure and it doesn't matter because it is all part of the plan that leads to ultimate destruction prior to the Sky Daddy waves his magic wand and makes everything a do over.
Very infantile thinking and it is leading humanity over the extinction cliff dragging most species along with us - the Earth will recover of course but we probably won't be with it.
He could kill us all by drowning again and then repopulate by incest again. No wait. The rainbow is his proof that he will no longer drown us. He is "the most high god" and he lived on a higher mountain than some of the other gods. NASA has never found him. I bet the new Webb Telescope doesn't find him either.
My elder brother was an Elder in the JW's and he bought himself a huge telescope, it barely fit in his mini-van. He said that he was looking at the stars but I always felt that he was looking for proof of his sky daddy. He never found him looking through that eye piece because his sky daddy only existed in his mind.
Why do people keep saying “up in the sky”? Where is it written that ”god” or “heaven” is either “up” or “in the sky”? I’m afraid my religious education is sorely lacking.
No such thing as "religious education", despite what your local shit-for-brains might say. Try "religious nonsense telling" instead.
There would I think though be a reasonable presumption on a western web site, that god equals the Abrahamic god, who was originally a sky god. Probably even a fairly limited sky god, who main remit was rain and thunder storms, and it was only over time that he became the Jewish god and took on a wider use.
You understand that these extinction events happened, and that they happened tens or hundreds of million years in that past. What does that context do to frame human mythology?
Religion says that the god will bring upon us the day of judgrmrnt and threatens with existencial crisis if humanity remains sinful.
Those notions are only believed by Christians. It's up to you whether those notions seem credible and likely. If you do give them any credence, this website probably isn't for you. In my view, Christian dogma has no basis in reality.
(Humanity faces a real existential crisis, and most Christians refuse to address that problem because their religion teaches them to be assholes)
I think this is the duplicate of a post made in this same group yesterday…if I’m not mistaken!
Ya, this sounded logical, so i posted it
I posted the poster's first sentence one day before this post was made. Is plagiarism a form of flattery?
@anglophone I guess you could say it is!
@anglophone Then you must consider yourself most flattered.
