Tread Lightly
So how do you respond when the Jehovah Witnesses or other religious groups knock on your door on a Sunday Morning?
You open the door and look. They seem so innocent and vulnerable.
Me, well I listen to a few minutes of their speil.
Why? Because I think they may be hanging on a thin thread, psychologically speaking. Sometimes their whole identity is tied to their beliefs and we should always be respectful even though it makes our blood boil.
I politely say 'thank you so much, I really enjoyed you talk but I have my own religious beliefs (I lie)'. They walk away with a smile. Everyone feels good.
If their beliefs don't harm anyone or encourage terrorism, I don't care but I still care about them. So tread lightly when you encounter religious people. Hopefully we have our athiest world under control and don't have to convert anyone.
Advantage security building. The only people that knock on my door are neighbors.
No religious strangers ever knocked on my door in the US.
I lived on a remote farm in Kentucky redneck country where everyone from the seven year old boy to the 80 year old gramma is armed, plus we had plenty of dogs who wouldn't have let strangers out of their car in the driveway.
Dear Birdy, after I'm converted to the JW's and earned my spot in heaven, I'll visit you in an armoured vehicle, just hide granny's gun, I don't want a premature departure.
Oops missed out. I'm number 150,000. Will have to get an economy seat in heaven.
I do not
You came to MY door uninvited
To Prosthelytize your religion
This is not a funeral
Not some social function
It is MY home
MY personal space
If you want to be Daniel and walk into the Lions den
expect a Lion
I'm always polite and say I'm not interested.
I answer door with a shotgun in hand
In OZ we have gun controls!
